Animal riddles

As part of your homework this week, you are going to be writing endangered animal riddles. When you have written them, add them as a comment to this post and we will try and guess what your animal is. I can't wait to read them!

Show racism the red card

Today we went to Blackpool football club to talk about racism and how bad it hurts. We meet Jason Euell and we asked questions like: Is racism always on the football pitch? He answered, "Well not always, it can happen to anyone because we all have a skin colour and a culture!"
At the end of all the questions Jason Euell signed a poster  for us and we brought in pieces of paper for him to sign as well!

Plant Adaptation

Today Mr Chamberlain and Miss Creegan, from St. Mary's, came in and taught us about what plants need and how they adapt to their habitats.
We made models to explain how different plants adapted to their environments. However, we weren't allowed to use any words! Some of the ways plants adapt are: growing long roots to reach water; huge leaves to collect lots of sunlight; being able to live without soil and trapping insects for nutrients when there are none in the soil.
Mrs Irvin is going to put up pictures of our creations tomorrow.

Book by the Beach - Belgium

We are really lucky and have been invited to write a chapter in the interactive story of the Beach family, from Blackpool, as they journey across Europe.

Ten primary schools across Blackpool have each been invited to contribute a chapter of the story and each chapter will be written from the point of view of one or two of the family, around a suggested scenario and based in a designated country.

The country we have been given is...Belgium!

Through our lesson today, I would like you to let us know what you find out by commenting on this post.

Endangered Animals

When you have found out some facts about the endangered animal you have chosen, why don't you post them here? It would be wonderful if we could all read each others work.

Remembrance

Inspired by the wonderful work done by Mr Sale's class at Mereside, today we had a go at creating our own remembrance mood boards.

We included words and images that we thought would encourage people to think about the men and women who have fought and died in all past and present conflicts.

We hope you like them.

Science - shadow puppet theatre

Last week in year 6 we worked on making our own shadow puppet performances. We have had a lot of fun doing this and have put a lot effort into them because we wanted to make them the best we could for the infants. They will be watching them and voting for the best one to put into the digital media awards.

What do you think?
